Market & Demand
Hydrogen is used to produce ammonia through the Haber-Bosch process. -90% of ammonia is used to manufacture fertilizers.
Fertilizers
Fertilizer is a regulated market with subsidies provided to farmers. Imported natural gas is the main feedstock for fertilizer production in India comprising 80% of the volume of the natural gas used.
Fuel Generation
Hydrogen is used to process crude oil to obtain refined fuels e.g. gasoline, and diesel Sulphur impurities are removed via Hydro-desulfurization.

Hydrogen Production Technology
Hild Electric offers Bipolar electrolyser to KSEB. The Electrolyser shall produce 500 Kg of hydrogen per day operating for 10 hours. It shall consume 3 MWh of power and 500 liters of DM water per hour.
3 MW Alkaline stack features
- DC capacity : 4.4 Nm3/ Kg
- Stack life : 80,000 hours
- DM water : 10 Litres/Kg
